International Organizations, Job Oppertunities and skills needed



In my blog this week I have identified three national websites that have caught my attention. I have identified why they sparked my interest as well as identified job openings that interested me.  This was an eye opening assignment that made me realize the opportunities abroad in the early childhood field.

UNESCO Building peace in the minds of men and woman is a COP that I was drawn to because they work to create conditions for dialogue among civilizations, cultures and peoples, based upon respect for commonly shared values.  This type of collaboration is what the early childhood field needs to improve wages and create quality available to all.

Clinical Research Project Manager
The Clinical Research Project Manager (CRPM) is responsible for the overall coordination and management of clinical projects/studies from start up through close out activities. Directs the technical and operational aspects of the projects, ensuring the successful completion of clinical projects/studies. Works with major functional area leads to identify and evaluate fundamental issues on the project, make good business decisions and ensure solutions are implemented. Works to ensure all project deliverables meet the sponsor's time/quality/cost expectations. The CRPM works in collaboration with other functional area leads providing accurate labor forecasts, reviewing pass through costs and ensuring timely invoicing. S/he effectively creates operational project plans tailored to the particular needs of each assigned study. Collaborates with centralized, remote monitoring units to ensure project progress and deliverables meet contractual requirements. Qualifications:

The Organisation provides a unique forum in which governments work together to share experiences on what drives economic, social and environmental change, seeking solutions to common problems.

The Directorate for Education and Skills (EDU) leads the Organisation’s work to help member and non-member countries achieve high-quality learning for all, design better skills policies, and turn them into jobs and growth. The Directorate carries this out by providing statistics, analysis and policy advice to countries on a wide range of educational topics.
EDU is looking for an experienced and motivated senior analyst to lead and manage the OECD’s large-scale international survey, Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). The successful applicant will lead the design and implementation of PISA and contribute to the international evidence-making for educational reforms. S/he will contribute to the development and the implementation of strategies to ensure that PISA continues to be relevant and of high impact for the improvement of educational policy. S/he will lead a multi-disciplinary team as well as establish strategic partnerships with high-level government officials, international experts and other project related stakeholders. S/he will closely coordinate with another PISA senior analyst (A4) who leads the analysis and dissemination of PISA data. Together they will ensure that the survey continues to be policy relevant.
Academic Background
  • An advanced university degree in education, social sciences, policy analysis or a related field.
Professional Background
  • At least eight years’ experience in policy-oriented projects in education or social sciences, preferably in an international organization, national administration or research institute.
  • At least eight years’ experience in management of interdisciplinary and large-scale teams within complex projects and interaction with other organizations and external stakeholders. Experience of large-scale international surveys of educational systems would be a particular asset.
  • Familiarity with the quantitative and qualitative techniques used in analysis and research in the social sciences, including interpretation of complex multi-level statistical analyses. Knowledge of psychometrics would be an advantage.
  • Extensive contacts within the international education policy community would be an advantage, as would knowledge of education systems or developments in more than one OECD country.
Languages
  • An excellent command of one of the two official languages of the OECD (English and French) including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely in written form for specialist and non-specialist audiences. Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the other.
  • Knowledge of other language(s) would be an advantage.

UNESCO’s “mission has been to contribute to the building of peace, poverty eradication, lasting development and intercultural dialogue, with education as one of its principal activities to achieve this aim”. I like the fact that they are committed to providing quality education worldwide, which we all know that everyone has the right to. In addition the belief that education plays a fundamental role in human, social and economic development. I might add that are also focused on dealing with the global challenges and threats, such as inequality, exclusion, violence and sectarianism which is worsened by local tensions and conflicts which undermine humanity’s cohesion, learning to live together among all members of the global community becomes more topical than ever before. Even though all these issues are important Inclusion stands out since this is the challenge I am focused on. I will continue to review this site and find out as much as I can about inclusion.
