Future of early childhood- Final post

One consequence of learning about early childhood internationally is that we can see what has worked for other countries and doesn’t work.  They may try different program approaches and we can learn from these and then make decisions with a true understanding.  Another consequence when learning about early childhood internationally is that eventually a standard will be set to identify quality and it will not just be for one state or country but will be for all children.  The final consequence of international early childhood is building relationships and continuing to work collaboratively with other early childhood professionals to ensure children are in an environment that is conducive for learning.
One goal I have personally that affects me socially is the goal of educating adults.  If we can come together internationally and get the word out about how important birth-5 is when children are developing than I feel we have made a difference.  With knowledge of how important these years are and knowledge of how important is for young children to have bonds with adults and other children then people can make decisions for children with an understanding of development.

  1. Hi Tisha,
I like your goal of educating adults, I also believe that there is much success to gain in age appropriate developmental practices. If parents and other early care -giving adults are knowledgeable about the developmental processes from age 0 to 8, there will be better progress and greater quality education at the very crucial early stage of growth and development in children. Great post, all the very best in your future courses and continued work as an early childhood professional.

  2. Hi Tisha
That is a great goal educating adults. Collaborating with other professionals will also help improve the quality of education for children. That is a good point connecting with other professional in other countries can show us what works, and what does not work to improve the education system.

  3. I like how you mentioned that one of the consequences is being able to see that what works for one country may not work for another. Also, I like how you stated that eventually their will be a set standard of what quality is. Each state has different standards they would like for their teachers to meet, however I believe that if standards were the same across the board, such as the Common Core Standards, then teachers would be able to teach in a manner that would be of high quality. I enjoyed your post!

  4. Tisha,
I admire and appreciate your goal of educating adults. In order to facilitate high quality early learning programs, we need competent and compassionate professionals to run them every day. I believe the best early childhood professionals are those that believe in lifelong learning and I am sure that leaders such as yourself will guide them in the right direction. Good luck!
